The number of Jaguars and Land Rovers sold in the UK last month has fallen year-on-year as new car registrations fell across the country.
Jaguar sold 1,124 cars in the UK last month, down from 1,464 in May 2010, while Land Rover sold 2,401 vehicles in May, compared to 2,713 for the same month in 2010.
Longbridge-based MG Motor UK sold 50 new cars in May following the recent showroom launch of the MG6.
Across the UK, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders announced the new car market was just 1.7 per cent down on May 2010, with 150,431 registrations.
Paul Everitt, SMMT chief executive, said: “New car registrations for May were down 1.7 per cent on 2010, with strong performances in fleet and business sectors.
“Consumers remain cautious, but with significantly improved fuel economy, service plans and more affordable finance, there is great value on offer across the market.”
