A leading Midlands training provider has scooped two prestigious awards for quality.

Protocol Consultancy Services was named small company of the year in the Midlands Excellence Awards, receiving the honour from Dragons’ Den entrepreneur James Caan at the International Convention Centre in Birmingham.

The accolade follows the award of the Learning and Skills Council’s new Training Quality Standard (TQS), Protocol becoming one of the first providers in the country to achieve the status in recognition of their ability to respond to employers’ needs.

Managing director Sue Tipton said: “It’s wonderful to receive these two awards back to back like this. We’re one of the first training providers in the Midlands to achieve full TQS accreditation. It’s an extremely challenging standard so I am absolutely thrilled, particularly to achieve full accreditation at the first attempt.

“And to be named the best small business in a set of awards designed to reward commitment to excellence is wonderful recognition. We’re all incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved.”

A West Midlands Learning and Skills Council spokesman said: “These awards are fitting recognition of Protocol’s excellent reputation for the quality of its learning provision.”
