Quantum PR co-founder Edward Carter launches own business consultancy

A former director of a listed PR firm is launching his own business consultancy almost four decades after he first started working in Birmingham.

Edward Carter, who co-founded Birmingham PR agency Quantum PR PLC, now part of quoted regional and specialist PR firm Freshwater UK PLC, is providing strategic board support and independent director services under the name of Edward Carter Consultancy.

Mr Carter, a former Ernst & Young partner, has experience of both privately-owned and listed companies, having helped Freshwater to its successful listing and fund raising on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) in 2007.

Now he is aiming to provide help where and when it is most needed, for example when businesses face challenging issues, where there is a need to build a business for sale or to fill a short-term gap in the management team.

Although giving up his role as an executive director at Freshwater, Mr Carter will remain on the board of that company as a non-executive director and chairman of the audit committee.

He is also continuing to serve as a non-executive director on the board of two West Midlands based companies, including private conglomerate Grove Industries.

“I believe that I can contribute to businesses through my experience of finance, marketing and general management. From feedback, it seems that I will have the opportunity to make that contribution” he said.

“It looks as though the flexibility of the arrangements that I am proposing will be attractive to businesses. I am finding a good response, suggesting that there is a real need for this service, even in challenging times.”
