Paintball firm seeks graffiti artists for battlezone upgrade

Daniel Perry and Mike Yates are appealing for graffiti artists as part of plans to upgrade facilities at SAS Paintball

A Midland activity and adventure centre is creating new jobs and investing £10,000 to upgrade its facilities.

SAS Paintball and Laser Combat near Wolverhampton is appealing to local graffiti artists to get involved with the upgrade, which comes as it celebrates its 10th anniversary.

As part of the anniversary re-vamp, plans are in place to cover 500 sq ft of wall space in the briefing room and play zones with brightly covered graffiti.

Managing director Mike Yates said: “We are throwing out a challenge to any artists who would like to cover the walls with suitable graffiti, using as many ‘Pow’ and ‘Zap’-style words and graphics as they wish.

“We will supply all of the necessary artistic materials which will be resilient to the water paints used in the weapons, and provide free refreshments, but the inspiration must come from the painters themselves and we will happily give them a free hand to create whatever they wish, once they have provided us with rough ideas beforehand.

“This anniversary is a very exciting time for us and hopefully they will give the reception and combat areas a face-lift and transform them into brightly coloured displays of individual art, which will then fit in with the new updated image of our centre.

“I believe that we have the only full-sized indoor paintball arena in the Midlands, which runs alongside our outdoor areas, and we are hoping to have an official opening of all the refurbished facilities in March.”

Operations director Adrian Duckers added: “Our site covers an area of 20,000 sq ft, providing woodland, warehouse and fuel dump locations for games, and we even have a ‘Cambodian jungle village’ style setting for more advanced players.”
