Birmingham’s burgeoning culinary reputation has received another boost after it was announced that gastronomy’s one-time enfant terrible is set to open a new venture in the city.

Marco Pierre White - who was the youngest ever chef to receive three Michelin stars - is set to launch a Steakhouse Bar and Grill on the 25th floor of the recently completed Cube development in the heart of Birmingham.

The new restaurant, which will take the entire 14,000 sq ft top floor of the scheme and will sit more than 70 metres above the city, is part of a £10million investment by Sanguine Hospitality Limited which will also develop a four-star boutique hotel on the two floors below the restaurant as well as a luxury health club and spa on the ground floor public levels of the building.

The announcement follows hot on the heels of new ventures in the city by fellow celebrity chefs Jamie Oliver and Antonio Carluccio who opened at the Bullring and Brindleyplace respectively last month.

The city already boasts three Michelin star restaurant in Purnell’s, Turner’s and Simpson’s with a number of other contenders such as Edmund’s in Brindleyplace pushing hard for recognition next year.
