Five floors of BREEAM 'Excellent' office space 'topped out'

The five floors of BREEAM ‘Excellent’ office space at The Cube have ‘topped out’.

The topping out marks the completion of the pre-let deal with the Highways Agency for almost 60,000 sq ft – more than half of the 111,461 sq ft Grade A office space that is available above the retail floors of the building.

The frame has now reached level 16 of what will be 23-storeys upon completion.

Jonathan Carmalt, office agency partner at King Sturge, who acted on behalf of the Highways Agency, said: “ With many government bodies and agencies currently reviewing their existing accommodation, it is increasingly important that Birmingham continues to out-perform other UK cities to offer modern and sustainable office space.

“With its stunning architecture and beneficial green credentials, The Cube scheme offers the Highways Agency the type of efficient space required, in an accessible location at a competitive rent.”

Ian Martin, regional head of property finance at Lloyds TSB Corporate Markets – funders of The Cube development – said: “When BDC came to us with the vision for The Cube, as a bank we were excited by the scale and quality of the innovative development.

“As the office levels ‘top out’ this month, it is impressive to see that more than half of the office space has already been pre-let, proving that The Cube is clearly capturing the interest of many potential, and now confirmed, occupiers.”
