Mazars moves into new Birmingham city centre office scheme
One of Birmingham’s most prominent office schemes has beaten off stiff competition to secure a significant new tenant from the accountancy sector.
Mazars has agreed to move its entire Birmingham staff from its current home on the corner of Newhall Street and Great Charles Street to the newly redeveloped 45 Church Street – the second major letting at the building since its completion last year.
The firm, which has 130 staff and 13 partners in the Midlands with an office in Dudley as well as Birmingham, will take the tenth floor in the building, which is also occupied by property firm King Sturge.
Mazars in the Midlands currently advises a growing number of listed companies, including Alstom UK, Manganese Bronze Holdings and Portmeirion Group, and Midlands managing partner David Chapman believes the move to the new accommodation will have significant benefits for the company.
“This is a major statement by Mazars in the Midlands,” he said. “The decision to make our Midlands headquarters in the stunning revitalised new office building at 45 Church Street is a signal to the market that Mazars is on the move, both geographically and business-wise.
“We have experienced expansion over the past 24 months, not only as a result of us winning some exciting new audit clients, but also an increase in work in some of our specialist areas such as forensic, corporate finance and governance and internal risk control.”
Mazars was advised by Philippa Pickavance of Drivers Jonas and Tim Coplestone of law firm Wilkes. GBR and DTZ were joint agents.
