Rider Levell Bucknall joins Birmingham's ranks at MIPIM

Global property and construction consultant Rider Levett Bucknall (RLB) is the latest partner to sign up to Birmingham at MIPIM this year.

The property specialist has also confirmed it will host the annual conference of its EuroAlliance partnership at the international property summit in Cannes.

The Alliance, launched last autumn, is reaping rewards for RLB with active discussions for projects worth around £1billion now taking place as well as a number of live projects under way. These include a £40million hotel scheme with Sterling Quest in Marrakesh and a £30million mixed-use scheme in Cork with KSN.

Representatives from consultancies covering more than ten European countries will attend the two-day meeting which begins on Monday. The official launch was in Munich last October.

Lance Taylor, chief executive of RLB, said: “We are delighted to once more support Birmingham and the West Midlands at MIPIM and reap the benefits we have enjoyed in previous years.

“We recognise that we are working in a tough marketplace but we also acknowledge that our pace should not lessen and our fight for survival needs to be strong. RLB is part of a global network and MIPIM will still present us with opportunities to pursue using the strengths that these global and European alliances present.

“MIPIM is also the ideal location to host the annual EuroAlliance conference. Cannes is easily accessible to all of our partners and with a potential audience of more than 20,000 visitors, we know it will be hugely beneficial to us all.

“Last year, we held a global conference here with all our heads of continents flying in from around the world. They found it so successful that despite the global downturn, national heads from the Oceania and Asia offices will be attending MIPIM 2009.

“The conference location will allow both Rider Levett Bucknall and our European partners the opportunity to combine our meetings with the ability to network and meet our key contacts.”

The EuroAlliance relationship provides a platform from which the practice can bid for work in more than 30 countries and offers support to current clients who are expanding into Europe. It also enables the consultancy to provide European market information to assist its worldwide client base.

A further benefit is the fact that a number of EuroAlliance partners have brought in RLB to support their own business development activities with their clients. This covers not only Europe but also the Middle East and Asia.

Mr Taylor added: “The second RLB EuroAlliance meeting will host representatives from firms from France, Spain, Ireland and Belgium as well as the key Central and Eastern European countries. This is a particular achievement considering the recession in the construction and property industry.

“MIPIM remains an important annual event for RLB. As a global consultancy, the conference gives senior managers from offices across the world the opportunity to meet with international clients and other RLB staff. “
