Stickee goes multimedia to promote Conn Iggulden's new book Tollins: Explosive Tales for Children

Digital agency Stickee has created a campaign for the new book by best-selling author Conn Iggulden.

Harper Collins Publishers has unveiled the campaign, www.SaveTheTollins.com, to promote the launch of the book by Iggulden, whose previous works include The Conqueror Series and The Dangerous Book for Boys.

His new book Tollins: Explosive Tales for Children introduces a magical new fictional world about fragile, flying creatures called The Tollins. Stickee’s campaign revolves around the character of Ollie Collins, an eight-year-old whose inquisitive nature has led him to investigate the world of the Tollins. Horrified by their treatment, Ollie has set up the ‘Save The Tollins’ campaign.

A series of video diaries were filmed, charting Ollie’s progress in saving the little creatures and encouraging everyone to get involved with the cause.

The site, which contains regular blog postings from Ollie, lots of information about Tollins and even the Tollins that Ollie has met during his investigations, also includes videos from Iggulden himself supporting the cause and urging people to get behind the campaign in the run-up to Bonfire Night.

Stickee and Harper Collins will also be running activity across Bebo and Facebook, where Ollie and Conn Iggulden will have their own presence to further increase awareness of the plight of the Tollins. Eric Winbolt, head of digital marketing at Harper Collins, said: “As we head towards November 5, the issues around saving the Tollins assumes a mounting importance.

‘‘Therefore, the challenge was to ensure that the campaign would encourage people to discover who the Tollins are and what you can do to protect them. Stickee has created a rich campaign to deliver the message perfectly, to children and parents.

Steve Gray, managing director at Stickee said: “We are delighted to have worked alongside Harper Collins on this innovative campaign.

‘‘We have been able to extend the readers’ experience beyond the book whilst complimenting the narrative with original digital creative material.”
