Soshi Games nets Screen WM investment
A Birmingham-based social gaming start-up has become the latest firm to benefit from Screen WM investment.
Screen WM has invested an undisclosed sum in two products developed by Soshi Games through the Digital Media Fund, which is supported by the soon-to-be-scrapped regional development agency Advantage West Midlands.
Soshi Games uses sites such as Facebook to produce games with a social purpose, helping NGOs, charities and social enterprises raise awareness of issues and promote causes.
The firm is providing its own private match funding, leveraged through investments secured from private partners.
Screen WM chief executive Suzie Norton said: "From our original small seed investment and support, Soshi Games has delivered a robust business plan with an innovative model, secured partnerships with global players including Keep Britain Tidy and produced a playable prototype of their first game, which is already in Beta.
"The strength of their team and success in raising private match finance off the back of their plan gives us every confidence that this is a solid investment that will really help propel Soshi Games to the next level"
Soshi Games chief executive Kevin Corti said: ‘Securing this early stage funding from Screen WM is great news for the business and will enable Soshi Games to further develop and become increasingly investor ready.
"It is great to be working with an agency that really understands digital media."
