Retail Birmingham has appointed former Core employee Kim Stephens as PR and events coordinator.
Her role will involve supporting the city centre’s retailers to raise their profile through PR and event activity, as well as editing and generating content for the StyleBirmingham.com website and building the Style Birmingham brand through social media and events.
She joins from her previous role as senior account manager at Birmingham marketing agency Core and brings with her more than seven years’ experience in delivering PR and marketing campaigns for clients across a number of sectors, as well as significant experience in coordinating large-scale events.
Retail Birmingham is a Business Improvement District (BID) – a precisely defined geographical area where local businesses have voted to invest collectively in projects and services which will help boost their trading performance and environment.
Retail Birmingham manager Steve Hewlett said: “This is a pivotal time for Retail Birmingham with our BID renewal ballot later this year and it is now more important than ever to communicate the real benefits that Retail Birmingham brings to the city and its retailers.
“We’re delighted that Kim is on board to work with and support the retailers to promote what they do, with the ultimate goal of helping them to strengthen their businesses through involvement in industry leading retail events and PR activity.”
Retail Birmingham has a number of large projects in the offing, including the week-long campaign for the ‘Celebration of Independents’ in July and Birmingham’s biggest fashion event, Style Birmingham Live in September.
Ms Stephens' role will be working with the team and the retailers to organise and promote the events and campaigns will be key.
She said: “It is inspiring to be working with a team who clearly have a massive passion for Birmingham’s retail offer and promoting this to the wider region and UK.”
