Hammonds in Birmingham acts for Kelly Services in sell-off

A corporate team from Hammonds in Birmingham led by partner Peter McLintock, has acted for Kelly Services, one of the world’s top workforce management services and human resources firms, on the sale of 31 of Kelly’s commercial staffing branches across England to Interaction Staffing Solutions for an undisclosed sum.

The Interaction group was founded in 1986 and currently operates nine branches in the northern Home Counties region. They specialise in providing office support and industrial staff on a temporary and permanent basis. The company also provides labour recruitment services in the driving, legal, technical, financial, human resources and technology sectors.

The transaction occurs as part of a reorganisation of Kelly’s UK operations.

Tracy Ellison, Kelly country manager, said: “The sale of these commercial branches means our employees associated with them will have the opportunity to continue their employment with the Interaction Group.”

The Hammonds team included Peter McLintock, Jane Bullen, John Heaton, Laura Davis, Mohammed Alam, Kate Ball, James Graham-Brown, Vicky Wilkes and Laura Williams.

Mr McLintock said: “This is a prime example of the recent ‘accelerated M&A’ phenomenon.

The deal was negotiated and signed in nine days from start to finish which required the Hammonds team to pull out all the stops. A successful conclusion means a significant number of jobs have been saved and our client has been able to achieve its strategic objective of reorganising its UK structure.”

Adrian Jones, a corporate finance partner at BDO Stoy Hayward said: “Accelerated sale processes are successful when working with businesses that are fundamentally sound propositions.”
