Mr Shadbolt said: “Our experience of the banks’ response to the Enterprise Finance Guarantee scheme has been varied, but we are now seeing a range of products available.

“There is still however much caution on lending and businesses really need to show they have good business plans and support.

Mr Carter added: “Business are facing many difficulties in the wake of the recession and need to have strong business acumen and good management information in place, to support any applications for finance and better enable them to manage their business.”

And Mr Baker said: “In times of hardship, business can save money by looking at their efficiencies. A robust framework is essential, where every stone is moved and business strategy is questioned, you will be amazed at how it is possible to pinpoint where savings can be made and cutting staff is not always the only option.”

Mr Carter and Mr Baker have recently been appointed as partners in recognition of their hard work and tenacity in dealing with clients and developing their teams.

Mr Carter has worked for the firm for more than 14 years and has worked closely with his clients, bringing a wealth of experience to the team. Baker has led many clients through the minefield of change both in the private and public sectors.

Mr Shadbolt joined the firm from Wenham Major last year and has worked alongside his staff and developing the team.

Alan Webb, RSM’s regional managing partner, said: “As a growing firm we understand the problems faced by businesses during the recession. We are always looking for high quality, ambitious individuals to help drive the business forward and I am delighted that Ian, Viv and Scott have joined the partner team.”
