Birmingham-based accountants Bloomer Heaven has appointed John Edwards and Kari Campbell as directors.
The pair joined Bloomer Heaven last spring, and will be starting in their new roles today. In addition to being given responsibility for a number of mainstream audit clients, Mr Edwards was appointed head of the corporate finance department. Kari Campbell was appointed to lead Bloomer Heaven’s tax consultancy.
The firm said the appointments had successfully strengthened both departments at Bloomer Heaven.
Mr Edwards has a background in corporate finance at a Big Four firm. He was also group secretary of a FTSE 350 company.
He joined the firm from Wenham Major, which went into administration a year ago after disclosing “financial irregularities”. The core audit, accounting and tax compliance business were subsequently acquired by RSM Bentley Jennison in an undisclosed deal.
He continues to maintain an interest in the listed sector through his active involvement with the Quoted Companies Alliance.
Kari Campbell trained in Worcester before moving to a national mid-tier firm in Birmingham where she became a tax specialist. At Bloomer Heaven she continues to specialise in tax consultancy with particular emphasis on corporate tax planning, transactional work and international tax matters.
Bloomer Heaven’s managing director, Chris Stephen-Haynes, said he was delighted to offer John and Kari directorships of the firm, and added: “We were delighted that John and Kari have had such a significant impact on our business and this appointment is testament to their hard work over the past year.
“They share our values regarding client service delivery and ethos and have outstanding technical ability, which complements our already very high standards of expertise.
”We have a very competent and energetic board of directors.”
Bloomer Heaven was founded in 1877 and employs 60 people across the offices in Birmingham city centre, Stourport and Lichfield. It was named Small Acccountancy Firm of the Year in 2008 by the West Midlands district of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales.
