International law firm HBJ Gateley Wareing has advised housebuilder Barratt West Midlands on the multi-million pound regeneration of the Lyng estate in West Bromwich.
The latest phase of the regeneration plan for the area, launched last week, will see up to 420 new homes built on the Lyng, adjacent to the town centre of West Bromwich.
The Lyng has seen a number of initiatives over the years but still remains in need of investment. Barratt will begin work on the estate early next year, with 114 new homes to be built on behalf of Lyng Community Association and around 306 open market homes.
The ten-year redevelopment will mean new jobs and housing opportunities for local people. Barratt is working in close partnership with Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council and the Lyng Community Association to draw up the project.
Over the summer, several consultation events will be held prior to the formal planning application being submitted.
HBJ Gateley Wareing has been working for Barratt.
Residential Development Partner Tim Ledger said: ‘In the current economic climate, committing to any new residential project requires innovative thinking when structuring the deal, as well as a strong conviction that the market will soon be picking up.
That means that developers, housing associations and local authorities need to work together to bring forward the right product for the needs for the area.
Our close relationship with Barratt has meant we have been able to help support the plans for the regeneration of West Bromwich.’
