HBJ Gateley Wareing opens Manchester office with acquisition of 40 partners from Halliwells
Birmingham law firm HBJ Gateley Wareing has expanded into Manchester with the acquisition of 40 partners from collapsed firm Halliwells – a move that will propel HBJ into the top 50 law outfits in the country.
The new partners will be working from an office in Manchester under the HBJ Gateley Wareing name, covering banking and finance, corporate, real estate, real estate litigation, corporate recovery, commercial litigation, intellectual property, employment, pensions and construction business.
The move brings a total of 200 new fee-earners into the firm, taking the total number to about 750.
HBJ has been looking to set up a presence in Manchester for some time, and was handed the opportunity when Halliwells went into administration last month.
Other parts of the collapsed firm have been bought by Liverpool-based Hill Dickinson.
