    A law firm has won a contract to advise Cambridge University’s rugby club after launching a specialist sports department.Richard Moon, head of the sports law department at Blythe Liggins which was set up last year, will advise the club on contracts and commercial arrangements.Mr Moon, who won a rugby blue at Cambridge before going on to play for England and the Barbarians at scrum-half, said: “It’s wonderful for me to be involved in advising the university rugby club, especially as I have such fond memories of my time at Cambridge, where I played alongside the likes of Rob Andrew and Gavin Hastings.”Blythe Liggins looks after the legal interests of sporting individuals, teams and organisations, including international rugby players, Olympic horsemen, women golfers and disabled riders.The firm has also acted for sports coaches, including David Collins, the former performance director of UK Athletics and Paul Sergeant OBE, the former chief executive of the Welsh Rugby Union’s Millennium Stadium.The firm has the contract to handle the legal requirements of The English Women’s Golf Association, which represents more than 115,000 women and girl golfers.
