Eversheds announces steady revenues with slight profit increase

Birmingham law firm Eversheds has announced positive results for the financial year 2010-11, with revenues matching last year’s level of £355m and net profit increased by three per cent.

In addition PEP increased by seven per cent to £555,000 and highlights included strong performances in a number of target growth areas.

They included commercial litigation, which saw growth of 21 per cent, financial services, up ten per cent and regulatory up 34 per cent.

The real estate team saw significant recovery with growth of 11 per cent, while the energy and health sectors grew by 33 per cent and 24 per cent respectively.

On the international stage the Asian and Middle Eastern operations saw respective growth of 22 per cent and four per cent with significant investment made in expanding international operations.

Birmingham senior office partner David Beswick said: “This is a very solid set of results. Whilst revenues were flat, the continuing trend of rising profits, coupled with a very favourable cash position emphasises the robustness of the business.

“What is particularly pleasing is that we are achieving significant profitable growth in a number of our strategic growth areas.

“The results are a testament to the skills, talent and commitment of everyone in the firm.

“No one is yet calling the end of the recession, however, we are hopeful that we are through the worst and are confident about the next 12 months and the strength of our business.”
