Shoosmiths has welcomed two new real estate partners to its Birmingham- based team.
Property litigation specialist Paul Knight and construction specialist Patrick Garner have joined the Birmingham office of Shoosmiths.
Mr Knight, a former partner at Clarke Willmott, having also spent 18 years at Wragge & Co, has extensive experience of advising on all aspects of property litigation.
He has worked for a range of clients and regularly advises retailers, developers and investors in property on diverse matters, including security of tenure, applications for landlords’ consents, dilapidations claims, break notices, contractual disputes and rent reviews, as well as the enforcement of lease covenants.
Mr Knight also assists with arrears recovery and the effect of insolvency. He was described in the 2011 edition of legal directory Legal 500 as ‘excellent’ and ranked as a ‘leading individual’ in Chambers UK 2012.
Mr Garner, who joins from Wragge & Co as Shoosmiths’ national head of construction, has spent more than 13 years advising clients on all aspects of construction, engineering, remediation, and infrastructure projects.
He deals with large multi-party transactions relating to infrastructure projects, the creation of urban villages, eco towns and renewable power projects.
Mr Garner led his former Wragge & Co team in negotiations on the bespoke contracts for the design, installation, construction and maintenance of a major UK energy company’s £325 million offshore wind farm – believed at the time to be the UK’s biggest wind farm and one of the most powerful in the world.
Head of Shoosmiths’ Birmingham office Jason Jackson said: “Both individuals boast impressive track records and will be invaluable to the growth and future development of the existing real estate litigation and construction teams, particularly when it comes to further enhancing our reputation and positioning in key markets.”
