Jan 29 2009 by Victoria Elmore
One of Birmingham’s most famous sons will return to the city to deliver the 2009 Roger Dickens Annual Lecture in which he will explore the theme of ‘the Currency of Power’ in the 21st Century.
Digby, Lord Jones of Birmingham, who served as Minister of State for Trade and Industry between July 2007 and October 2008, will look at how the cataclysmic effects of the global recession leave the developed economies of the world.
The former director-general of the CBI said: “I will explore the choices we now face about how to win through, drive successful wealth creation and combat the destructive forces of nationalism and protectionism that grow in times of economic challenge in order to be at the top table of a new world order.”
The lecture, staged in partnership with The NEC Group and sponsored by KPMG, will take place at the International Convention Centre in Birmingham, on Tuesday, February 24.
Tickets costs £40.25. Booking forms are available at http://www.birminghamforward.co.uk/events.cfm
