Sausage demand soars in the heat

The fine start to the summer has sent demand for sausages soaring as households light up the barbecue, foods firm Cranswick said.

Sales were 45 per cent ahead of the previous year in June, representing more than 3.7 million extra bangers, with sales of barbecue packs up more than 18 per cent. Underlying sales were 11 per cent up at £167 million.
