Private label household goods supplier McBride performs ahead of expectations

Private label household goods supplier McBride said it has performed ahead of expectations after recession-hit consumers opted for retailers’ own brand products.
The company, whose products include laundry liquids, mouthwash and toothpaste for supermarkets, said revenues were seven per cent up on last year in the period from July 1 to October 25.
McBride said that while the figure included a four per cent contribution from currency movements, it reflected a shift in the firm’s business mix towards more value-added products. This boosted operating margins ahead of last year, the firm added.
Chief executive Miles Roberts said the firm had built on a good start to the year. “Our markets remain highly-competitive and will continue to be so as private label continues to perform.”
