Moseley pay the price as Alan Adam upsets the ref

Moseley RFC travelled down to Plymouth at the weekend to take on the locals.

And the full supporter squad selection of owner Alan Adam, Bright’s vicar on earth, former Post business editor John Duckers, Birmingham Labour Councillor Ian Ward and Moseley stalwarts Alwynne Evans and Brian Skeeles were in shipshape condition (not for long) to show off to the sailors.

But some amongst the away contingent were still smarting on the back of a terrific effort the previous Saturday against the fully professional Nottingham when the lads went down by just two points.

Indeed the wags are still muttering that it was all Adam’s fault for their being unable to celebrate a famous victory.

Here is the evidence for the prosecution:

Item 1 - The referee Chris Sharp got a fair bit of ‘bird’ from the stand at the end of the game. Penalty count not good.

Yet it seems he runs a pleasant B&B in the delightful Yorkshire Dales and just blows the whistle to keep himself fit. Sounds a nice enough guy. So what could have irked him?

Item 2 - ‘Sir’ was spotted in the clubhouse a couple of hours before kick off getting a dressing down by the ‘chief car parking attendant’, otherwise known as camp commandant Adam, for parking in the ‘blue zone’ next to the clubhouse, and had to go and move his car to the right place (despite his protestations that he always parks there when he visits Billesley).

Could the two be related by any chance? Our man denies it furiously.

Bright’s vicar on earth John Duckers is not exactly known for his sartorial elegance.

Hence he is indebted to others for news that bespoke master tailor Ahmet Yusuf (who he?) celebrated 50 years in business with a gala charity dinner dance and fashion show at the Botanical Gardens on Saturday.

Ahmet opened his business in 1958 and is based in Chad Square, Edgbaston. His clients have included sports personalities such as Muhammad Ali and Sir Cliff Richard.

Proceeds went to charities including Acorns Children’s Hospice and St Mary’s Hospice.

Bravo.
