Colleagues from The Midcounties Co-operative swapped computers for paint and brushes to give a Black Country community centre a makeover.

The eight-strong team turned decorators and spent a day at Blakenall Community Centre in Blakenall, Walsall. They prepared and then painted the youth club area to give it a fresh, up to date look.

Team leader Cat Nelson, a Walsall-based travel accounts clerk, said: “Our volunteer challenges are a way of both helping the community and getting together to build on our team skills. We particularly wanted to do something to help young people.”
