Eric Grove’s Catesby Property Group wasn’t happy when the Government scrapped regional spacial strategies. Along with fellow developers Cala Homes and Colonnade they have challenged the move by Communities Secretary Eric Pickles.

The move scuppered planning permission for a £50 million 400-home scheme in Bude, Cornwall, which would have included 30 per cent affordable housing.

The plan was approved by a planning inspector on appeal, but the Government’s plans overturned that.

Nonetheless, Stratford-based Catesby is keeping busy. A longstanding plan for an urban extension in Newark in Nottingham looks nearer to fruition now the scheme has been formally included in the towns growth strategy.

That’s just one of Catesby’s hefty portfolio of mixed use plots of residential, commercial and mixed use land across the UK.

One of Catesby’s flagship projects is Firstpoint - a £200 million 120-acre mixed-use business and retail park near the M18 in Doncaster.

Firstpoint, developed in partnership with Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council and Yorkshire Forward, is also the home of Doncaster Chamber of Commerce.
