Dear Editor, I feel I must comment about the recent comments by the Secretary of State to label opponents of HS2 as “nimbys” and “luddites” overlooking the growing opposition in Kenilworth, Staffordshire and beyond.

The adverts of the pro-HS2 lobby released this week in Manchester (“Their lawns, our jobs – support Manchester”) seem somewhat ironic to promote a project that the Prime Minister sees as “important to reducing the north south divide.”

And to promote a train project from the side of a bus!
