Don't be a Scrooge - German market is an asset for the city

Dear Editor, I have to disagree with the letter in the Birmingham Post (December 1) regarding the Frankfurt Christmas Market.

Like hundreds of others we look forward to the Christmas Market coming to Birmingham to start the Christmas festivities in the City. The atmosphere is superb and it is a joy to wander round the market. Lots of people would not be able to go on holidays out of the city and the market creates a real alpine atmosphere here in Birmingham. I would imagine that retailers within the city look forward to the market as well as surely it can only increase their sales when people visit the centre rather than going out of town.

If it wasn’t for the Christmas Market I wouldn’t come to Birmingham to do my Christmas shopping – it has become a tradition that I don’t want to see lost.

Dear Editor, I write to say how fantastic the Birmingham Frankfurt Christmas Market is, it seems to be extra impressive this year and the atmosphere is unbelievable.

I have visited with the kids and also separately with my husband, it has something exciting for everyone. One thing I have noticed this year is the quality of the merchandise, it’s got even better.

I have friends and relatives from across the country and they have visited the Birmingham Frankfurt Christmas Market and all tell me how great it is and how lucky we are to have it.

Birmingham does such a good job at running this traditional festive event and Christmas in Birmingham wouldn’t be the same without it!

Keep up the good work Birmingham
