2/Lt T W J Wilson

Tristram William Jourdain Wilson, journalist, 11th (Service) Battalion, the Royal Warwickshire Regiment.

Son of the late William Wilson, of The Lindens, Duffield Road, Derby, and of Caroline Martha Wilson, of 13 Ellesmere Road, Chiswick, London.

Died November 24, 1917, aged 28. Buried in Voormezele Enclosure No 3, Ypres.

Pte W Allbutt

William Allbut, 10th (Service) Battalion, Worcestershire Regiment.

Son of Benjamin and Priscilla Allbut, of Edgbaston; husband of Ada Allbut, of 89 Summer Road, Edgbaston.

Born in Lye, Stourbridge.

Died of wounds aged 38 on September 21, 1917. Buried in Outtersteene Communal Cemetery Extension.

Pte R C Chapman

Richard Charles Chapman, 1/7th Battalion, the Royal Warwickshire Regiment.

Son of George and Lizzie Chapman; husband of Beatrice Annie Chapman, of 82 Great Hampton Row, Birmingham.

Died aged 30 on August 27 1917. No known grave, but commemorated at Tyne Cot Memorial.

Pte B Clanchy

Bertram Clanchy, a compositor, 1/8th Royal Warwickshire Regiment.

Son of Fredrick and Emily Clanchy, of Sparkbrook. Died of wounds aged 27 on May 13, 1915.

The battalion reported 18 men were wounded as a result of enemy shellfire on May 9-11 while in trenches near Wulverghem.

Buried in Wimereux Communal Cemetery.

Bertram’s elder brother, Horace, a coach painter, of 19 Palmerston Road, Sparkbrook, served in France from May 1916. He survived the war.

Pte B W Davis

Bert William Davis, an errand boy, 5th (Service) Battalion, the Oxfordshire & Buckinghamshire Light Infantry.

Son of Samuel and Mary Ann Davis, of 31 Thomas Street, Aston.

Died aged 19 on October 17, 1915. Pte Davis had landed in France on October 1. No known grave – commemorated at the Menin Gate.

Pte H le Pine Elliott

Henry le Pine Elliott, 1/7th London Regiment. Formerly a private in the 25th (Cyclist) Battalion.

Son of Thomas and Susan Elliott, of 5 Barlow Street, Walworth, London.

Died aged 19 on June 7, 1917.

Buried in Voormezele Enclosure No 3.

Pte J Garner

John Garner, an accountant’s clerk, Southern Command Labour Centre of the Labour Corps.

Son of John and Sarah Garner, of 26 Auckland Road, Sparkbrook. Formerly private in the Suffolk Regiment and the Devonshire Regiment.

Served overseas after 1915. Died (of an illness) aged 37 in the UK on January 13, 1918. Buried in Yardley cemetery, Birmingham.

Pte A J Giles

Albert James Giles, an accountant’s clerk, 116 Company, the Machine Gun Corps. Formerly a private in the King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry.

Born in Balsall Heath. Husband of Daisy Amy Wilkinson (formerly Giles), of 283 Highgate Road, Sparkbrook.

Died aged 30 on September 3, 1916.

Buried in Hamel Military Cemetery, Somme, France.
