Edmunds restaurant in Birmingham has won a top “people’s award” – being named Midlands regional winner in the The Good Food Guide Restaurant of the Year Awards.
More than 27,500 diners picked their favourite UK restaurants, pubs and cafés and guide judges whittled down the nominations to some of the best dining experiences on offer. All the restaurants needed to be independently-run, delivering consistently good food and service.
Andy Waters, chef patron at Edmunds in Brindleyplace, said: "Winning the Midlands category is a great achievement for the whole Edmunds team who have worked here from day one and put in so much dedication.
"We are so pleased that the nominations for this award have come from the people who matter to us most - our diners. We would like to thank everyone who voted for us and we look forward to welcoming you back to Edmunds soon."
Elizabeth Carter, consultant editor of The Good Food Guide, said: “Birmingham is proud of having several big-hitting restaurants in its midst, and the fact that The Good Food Guide readers have singled out Edmunds as their outstanding restaurant, not just in the city but in the region, is a ringing endorsement for hard-working chef Andy Waters and his wife Beverley, who oversees front of house.
"They prove that fine dining credentials can come with a warm welcome and relaxed ambiance.”
Edmunds is one of ten regional winners, one of whom will go on to be named as the overall The Good Food Guide Restaurant of the Year, to be announced on June 23.
