NATHAN Delfouneso will be allowed out on loan to turn him “into a man” with Villa also considering temporarily dispatching Fabian Delph for first-team football.
Robbie Keane’s arrival on a two-month deal from LA Galaxy will bolster the club’s forward ranks and could limit Delfouneso’s opportunities.
Manager Alex McLeish is prepared to send the Brummie for a brief spell away from Villa and rely on fellow rookie Andreas Weimann as strike cover.
Delph could also go out on loan after falling down the pecking order with McLeish delaying a decision about the midfielder until later in the month.
Delfouneso experienced a disappointing spell at Championship club Burnley last season but Villa believe another loan would benefit the 20-year-old.
“It is something we’ll think about,” said McLeish.
“It is possible because it has been a bit stuttering for him just now going from game to game.
“It would be great if Nathan got regular football and came back from being a boy into a man. He was unlucky in the Stoke game because if he’d scored the chance, your contribution to the first team changes and all of sudden you are looking at starting a game.”
