Birmingham City: Keith Fahey challenged to become a Blues mainstay

Keith Fahey

KEITH Fahey’s return to the fold has been welcomed by Chris Hughton.

And he has challenged the midfielder to cement a place in the team.

Fahey felt his way back in at Manchester City in the Carling Cup after groin surgery.

In Blues’ last two matches, which both resulted in victory, he started and completed 90 minutes.

With game-time for Ireland as well during the Euro 2012 qualifiers, he has got back up to speed and sharpness.

“He’s important for us – and it’s down to Keith really,” said Hughton.

“He started the pre-season very well in a central position, looked good in the training but it’s about transferring that on to the pitch.

“It’s very much up to Keith. He’s now injury-free. And I would think he’s got a real spring in his step at the moment because he’s able to play pain-free after the problems he did have.
