SPECIFIC target-setting is keeping Birmingham City on track for their overall ambition of promotion this season, according to Chris Hughton.

The Blues boss has outlined a series of team objectives as well as personal aims for his players that, if achieved, will boost their chances of an immediate return to the Premier League.

Monitoring progress throughout the course of the season is also vital and is something Hughton will be doing as he aims to add another Championship promotion to his blossoming CV.

“You’ve got to have targets because if you’re going through a season hoping things will happen, inevitably it won’t,” said Hughton.

“We’ve got targets here both for the team and individually.

“Our target, whichever way it may happen, is to go back up again.

“The players know it’s a tough ask because of the type of season we have got but they are well up for it.

“I’ve got a group of lads that want to work hard and try and make it work.

“That’s the biggest area that has helped us so far this season.
