Jim Troughton appointed new captain at Warwickshire
Jim Troughton has been appointed Warwickshire's new captain.
The 31-year-old batsman replaces Ian Westwood in the role after he stepped down last week.
Troughton made his Warwickshire debut in one-day cricket in 1999, before making his first class debut two years later.
He has scored 6,498 runs in that time at an average of 35.90.
"It is a real honour for me to be asked to take over as Warwickshire captain," he said. "Warwickshire cricket is in my blood and I will be working hard to uphold the great traditions of this club."
Ashley Giles, the county's director of cricket, added: "We are delighted that Jim has agreed to take on this important position and I have every confidence that his experience and maturity will make the transition a smooth one."
