Clydesdale Bank 40 - Group B, at The Citylets Grange: Scotland 120-7 v Warwickshire 116-9. (22 overs per side)
Scotland beat Warwickshire by 4 runs
Warwickshire suffered a shock setback in defence of their CB40 Trophy with a four-run defeat to Scotland in Edinburgh.
In a rain-reduced match of 22 overs per side the Bears restricted the Scots to 120 for seven but then mustered just 116 for nine to leave their hosts reflecting on successive wins.
Runs were hard to find in damp conditions and after Neil Carter and Chris Woakes bowled accurately, Rikki Clarke denied kept a brake on with four overs for just 12.
Spin pair Jeetan Patel and Ant Botha prevented late acceleration with eight overs for just 37 runs with three wickets.
But Warwickshire found run-gathering no easier and after a solid, if sedate, start of 28 in 32 balls from Varun Chopra and Carter, went into freefall. The next seven overs brought just 30 runs and five wickets.
Thirty-two runs were needed from the last two overs and though Botha blasted a spectacular 45 (24 balls, three sixes, two fours), it was too tall an order.
