West Brom's Dean Kiely backs Ben Foster's decision to leave Man United

Dean Kiely believes Birmingham City goalkeeper Ben Foster was spot on in following Scott Carson’s lead by leaving behind a Premier League comfort zone.
Foster moved to Blues this summer having spent several years as third choice goalkeeper at Manchester United.
Carson made a similar move from Liverpool two summers ago - opting to join West Bromwich Albion following several seasons as a loanee at other clubs and reserve at Anfield.
“I think it will enhance his career - just like it has with Scott and West Brom,” said Kiely, who is goalkeeping coach at West Bromwich Albion. “Listen, Manchester United is the greatest club in the world.
“I spoke to Ben and you could say that you won’t get another opportunity to play for Man United but his argument might be that I’ve not played as much I’d want to - that’s the decision you need to make
“Being sat on the bench for Man United - he’d rather be making an impact on the pitch and I think he’s made the right decision. t was the same with Scott. He made a brave choice and now he’s No1 with a Premier League club.”
Kiely believes both men will be staking a claim for England call-ups this year adding: “I’m not being wise after the event but I said that there were signs that England had car crash elements to it.
“Joe Hart came out of it unscathed, Ben Foster came out of it unscathed because he didn’t go and Scott falls into that category also. They have big futures.”
