Decisions, decisions. It’s why Roberto Di Matteo gets paid to be West Bromwich Albion manager. Or head coach – if you wish.
But this weekend comes one of the biggest tests of his managerial career thus far.
On the one hand he had to decide whether to stick with under-fire captain and off-form goalkeeper Scott Carson, or bring in Boaz Myhill.
On the other he has the small matter of addressing Albion’s losing streak of six games – regardless who he chooses to don the gloves come 3pm.
Di Matteo is ready for the challenge, not least as Albion take on Blackpool – against whom, in the first game, it started to go so horribly wrong.
Since then Albion have taken just seven points from a possible 39 and been knocked out of both domestic cup competitions.
“That night (at Blackpool) still nags at me,” said the Italian.
“It was a strange game and the referee had a big hand in making it a strange game.
“We fought hard to get something out of it and we were unfotunate not to get something out of it.
“I have never seen anything like it. We battled hard, brave to stay in the game as long as possible.
“It almost worked out for us. But that game took a lot out of us in the following games.”
“We had four games in 12 days and it burst our bubble so it would be nice to get one back on them.”
