NICKY Shorey believes ‘workaholic’ Craig Dawson will prosper in Albion’s first team – as the club await news on Chris Brunt’s injury
Winger Brunt was being scanned for a suspected broken ankle after suffering the injury during the final throes of Sunday’s defeat to Everton.
His injury, which is feared to be serious, merely adds to Albion’s woes as they head for Spurs tonight.
On the flip side, Dawson’s second Premier League start was encouraging.
The 21-year-old centre-half came in for the injured Jonas Olsson against Everton and was one of the few players to emerge with any credit.
And Shorey gave his take on his team-mate’s performance, pointing towards his colleague’s application and efforts during training sessions.
“He did very well,” said Shorey. “Craig is a workaholic in training and I think he showed everyone what he can do.
“He works hard. He wants to be a professional footballer and to do well and I think he will.”
Shorey continued: “Craig is not fazed at all and it’s nice to see people from lower leagues get a chance.
“That’s how I got my chance and you don’t see it as much these days so it’s nice to see.
“He just gets into a zone and you can’t get him out of it. He just concentrates on the game and does his job.
