West Brom: FA Cup win can give Baggies a boost, says midfielder

JAMES Morrison says Albion are up for the FA Cup as they bid to turn around their dismal home form.

Roy Hodgson’s men face Norwich in the fourth round on Saturday looking to avenge a 2-1 home defeat to the Canaries just ten days ago.

Morrison played an hour of Albion’s 1-0 semi-final loss to Premier League Portsmouth at Wembley in April 2008 in front of more than 83,500 fans.

“I have been part of a Cup run before with West Brom and it was a great time,” the Scottish international said.

“We got to play at Wembley and it was something for the fans to talk about.

“The history of the FA Cup means a lot to the fans and as a player you want to win trophies so a lot of players should be up for it.”

Albion have lost seven of their 11 home league games already this season and taken just eight points, compared to 17 on opposition soil.

But Morrison, who has been in electric form in central midfield in recent weeks with key goals at Blackburn and Stoke, believes a win at the weekend will help turn their fortunes around.

“A cup-tie can always change the fortunes of a season,” he said.

“If you’re on a bad run and you win a cup game it can change things and it might change our home form.

“It gives a chance for some players to play because we’ve got a Wednesday game against Fulham, which is going to be another tough one, so let’s go for a Cup run.”
