My Premier aim is with Wolves - Ebanks-Blake

Sylvan Ebanks-Blake has launched a broadside to the Barclays Premier League clubs looking at his goalscoring prowess in the division below, insisting his future lies with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Everton and Wigan are among the clubs said to have been watching the meteroic rise of the former Manchester United academy star who has scored 24 goals so far this season – one more than the impressive tally of 23 which earned him the Coca-Cola Championship’s Golden Boot last season.

The striker, who moved to Molineux from Plymouth Argyle a year ago in January, said: “I would like to play in the Premier League with Wolves.

“That’s been the ambition of mine since I joined and spoke to the manager about the club’s ambitions.

“Make no mistake I want to get to the Premier League but I want to do it with Wolves.”

Ebanks-Blake also underlined his desire to contine to be as profilic and as impressive in his goalscoring should he be able to help fire Mick McCarthy’s side into the promised land at the end of this season.

“I think if you asked any player they would want to improve and play at the highest level,” he said.

“That is where you really test yourself and I’m no different. I want to be there and I’m hoping to get there with Wolves.

“If we continue doing what we are doing then the signs are good.”

Ebanks-Blake refuses to talk up Wolves’ promotion chances despite their lofty position at the top of the Championship but admits the team – with only seven games to go – and having led since October – are daring to dream that that may be possible.

“We’ve been up there to be shot at for a long time now,” he said, “but I’d much prefer to be leading the way like we are.

“When you’re in the chasing pack you’re relying on certain results to go your way.

“In our current circumstances we need to rely on only our own results and if we rely on that we’re pretty much there.

“We’re happy to be leading from the front and happy to take the pressure that comes with it and just try to win our games from now until the end of the season.”

He assured supporters that Wolves were aiming to lift the Championship title silverware to go with their aim for automatic promotion.

“When we look at it at this stage of the season with where we are, of course we want to win the title. We want to be the best of the best and that means doing the best we can achieve.

“We’re not really looking at other teams because it’s about what we do. We’ve got the points on the board and we know that if we take care of our own results then no-one can catch us.

“If there is any pressure then that’s the only pressure that we put on ourselves.”
