Wolves striker can't wait for Liverpool FC clash
Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Sylvan Ebanks-Blake has admitted the fact his side are a Barclays League side next season has only now finally sunk in with the release of the fixtures.
Ebanks-Blake’s 25 goals last season helped catapult Mick McCarthy’s youngsters into the top flight and, as a lifelong Liverpool fan, the striker has the chance to finally visit Anfield for the very first time.
The Coca-Cola Championship’s top scorer last season said: “As a Liverpool fan, the Boxing Day trip to Anfield is particularly special for me.
“I have never been to Anfield before even as a fan because I always said the first time I go there I want to be going to play and now that dream will come true.
“For Wolves as a team, though, and the fans in particular, seeing the fixtures out there is a great feeling because we can now see in black and white what all our achievements from last season in securing promotion mean.”
McCarthy’s newly-promoted side have a relatively tame introduction to life in the top flight after avoiding the so-called Big Four in their opening matches.
Their season kick-starts with the visit of West Ham United at Molineux on August 15 before their first away trip of the campaign at the JJB Stadium on August 18 to take on Wigan.
Wolves’ first big derby of the campaign comes against Villa at Molineux on October 24 before a return trip to Villa Park in February while Blues visit Wolves in October and head to St Andrew’s on February 6.
Wanderers will visit Old Trafford on December 15 and Arsenal on April 3 before wrapping up their season against McCarthy’s former club Sunderland at home on May 9.
