Roger Johnson hailed as key to Wolves' bright start to season

Roger Johnson has been key to Wolves’ good start to the campaign, according to team-mate Christophe Berra and boss Mick McCarthy.

Both have been pleased by the defender’s displays since his summer arrival from Blues.

Berra and Johnson have formed a solid partnership at the heart of Wolves’ defence, and kept clean sheets in back-to-back matches against Fulham and Villa.

Berra has been impressed with his new colleague and the impact Johnson has had on his own game.

“I’ve played with a few different centre-halves since I’ve been here and it’s always good,” said the ex-Hearts man, who is on international duty with Scotland.

“I’m still only 26 and not in my prime and I am just looking to improve every game.

‘‘With picking up experience I can only get better and as a team we just want to keep on keeping clean sheets.

“We’ve seen Roger play for the last two seasons with Birmingham and have seen the leadership he has.
