Wolves: Angry Steve Morgan blasts Sepp Blatter

STEVE Morgan says Sepp Blatter must no longer turn a blind eye to technology with Wolves having been hit hardest of all by refereeing blunders this season.

Morgan – a former match official himself – defends the men in black but says FIFA’s failure to act is one of “crass stupidity”.

Morgan called Nenad Milijas’ red card at Arsenal: “an outrageous decision,” and went on to describe Frank Lampard’s tackle on Adam Hammill – which was just a booking – as one which: “could have been career-ending”.

“I think football is the only major sport in the world now that doesn’t employ video technology. Are we a bunch of dinosaurs? For goodness sake, it’s not beyond us,” Morgan fumed before giving his take on the drama at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night.

“I have some sympathy with the view for example that the two-footed tackle from Glen Johnson was no different to Kompany’s tackle at the weekend. The answer is there was no difference.

"But should Kompany have been sent off? I don’t think Kompany or Johnson should have, they both got the ball.

“One referee saw it one way, one saw it another. I don’t know who is right but for Christ’s sake one of them has got to be wrong. You can’t see two identical tackles and one go unpunished and one get a red card. What we need is consistency.

“Clearly that fourth official should be there with video screenings in the same way they do with other sports like rugby. They turn the decisions around very quickly.
