MICK McCarthy tore into his Wolves side for gifting Birmingham City their FA Cup passage to round four.

The Wolves boss pointed the finger of blame at the marking for the 74th-minute winner that sent Blues to a tie at Sheffield United.

“I’m livid that we’ve gone out,’’ fumed McCarthy. “I’m really angry about that. Very disappointed – and more so that the game hinged on us not marking at a corner.

"I’ve got loads of (complaints). Not at them (Blues) – at us for not being good enough on the night.’’

McCarthy, who made ten changes, denied his eye had been on Saturday’s derby with Villa.

“That’s not the point. I know that winning games creates that winning mentality,’’ he said.

“We have been all right apart from Chelsea when we lost in the last minute... but I didn’t want to lose tonight, no.

“I am bitterly disappointed. I am angry with that.

“We have not played particularly well. I don’t know who had the best of it between the two of us. It was fairly even but it hinged on us not marking at a corner kick. That really is what it all boiled down to. It is just a huge disappointment.

“We got up for a really big game at Spurs and took a point from one of the really top teams.”
