POLICE were advising motorists to avoid Yardley in Birmingham on Wednesday afternoon after a collision involving six vehicles.
Emergency services were called out to the Swan Island at 1.10pm.
A West Midlands Police spokesman said no one was seriously injured in the accident.
The West Midlands Fire Service announced through Twitter that one person was trapped in a vehicle and had to be freed by firefighters.
Traffic coming into the city centre along the Coventry Road was being diverted.
But police were expecting the road to be cleared before the evening rush hour.
Fire and ambulance crews were also at the scene.
