Labour wins Bilston North in Wolverhampton by-election
Labour secured a landslide victory in a Wolverhampton City Council by-election as support for the party increased in line with opinion poll figures.
The party's candidate, Linda Leach, won the by-election in Bilston North to give Labour 30 of the 60 city councillors.
However, the Liberal Democrat mayor would have the casting vote in the event of a tied division.
The Labour candidate beat the Conservative party candidate into second place, while the Liberal Democrats finished in fifth and last, behind the BNP and Ukip.
