Man charged over shop shooting

A 20-year-old man has been charged with murder after the fatal shooting of a shop worker.

Nasar Hussain, 30, died from wounds to his chest and stomach after being shot six times as he worked at the Brookhouse Wines supermarket in Salford, Greater Manchester.

He was treated at the scene on Saturday July 4 by police and paramedics before being taken to hospital, but doctors could not save his life.

Ryan Manning of Bird Street, Higher Ince, Wigan has now been charged with the murder.

A Greater Manchester Police spokeswoman said: "A 17-year-old boy was arrested today on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder and remains in police custody for questioning.

"Nine men and two women arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder have been bailed until August 17 pending further inquiries.

"A man arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender was released without charge."

Mr Hussain, a Pakistani national known locally as Nasar Shazad, had lived in Salford for about six months before the attack.

Mr Hussain's father, who did not wish to be named, paid tribute to his son earlier this week, saying: "My son was very kind and a good son. He offered his prayers every day. I am devastated by his death."

Manning is due to appear before Manchester Magistrates' Court on Monday.
