£45m Euro lottery winners checked
Two lottery ticketholders are having their claims checked as part of a process that could see them become multimillionaires.
The winners will scoop more than £45.5 million each if their Euromillions tickets are checked and passed by the Lottery operator.
The pair have to pass security checks before meeting with a private banker who handles the money transfer and advisers who discuss how to deal with their new-found wealth.
They also advise winners on whether they should go public once the win is confirmed.
Around 25% of winners opt for the publicity with the rest staying anonymous.
It is not yet known if the players are in a syndicate, but if they bought their own tickets individually they will find themselves with wealth at the level of celebrities such as DJ Chris Evans, celebrity chef Jamie Oliver and film star Sir Michael Caine, according to the Sunday Times Rich List.
It would be the first time lottery winners have made it on to the rundown of the wealthiest people.
The three largest National Lottery prizes won in the UK so far are all from the Euromillions game. Lottery winnings are tax-free.
They went to Angela Kelly, who won £35,425,411.80; a no publicity winner the same month who won £26,533,767.50; and Brian Caswell of Bolton, who won £24,951,269.40, in June this year.
The winning numbers were 11, 19, 34, 43 and 45. The Lucky Star numbers were 5 and 9.
