Brown unveils his election generals
Gordon Brown will aim to make a show of Labour unity as he unveils his general election campaign chiefs and insists the Tories can be beaten.
The Prime Minister is to address his MPs at the first meeting of the Parliamentary Labour Party since last week's attempted putsch.
He will seek to boost morale with an upbeat analysis of the party's prospects and, signalling a more collegiate approach, be joined "on stage" by Harriet Harman, Douglas Alexander and Lord Mandelson.
Aides said that the three Cabinet ministers were now holding daily general election campaign meetings at Labour's Victoria Street headquarters.
They have also been working closely with Ed Miliband, who is responsible for the party's manifesto.
The appearance of Ms Harman, Labour's deputy leader, and Mr Alexander, the party's election co-ordinator, is especially pointed, given claims that they were tacit supporters of the move against the Prime Minister last week.
Mr Brown, who is to campaign for the election on the basis that he would serve a full second term, will tell Labour MPs: "We can beat them, we must beat them, and we will beat them."
Aides said he would set out an election strategy seeking to present Labour as "the party of aspiration".
He will be joined by Mr Alexander, Labour's general election co-ordinator, chairman of election strategy Lord Mandelson and Harriet Harman, the deputy leader.
They have been working together for months now and are co-chairing a daily meeting at the party's Victoria Street headquarters to direct the day-to-day campaign. Ed Miliband, who is responsible for the party's manifesto, has also been closely involved.
