Students across Birmingham today collected their A level results. Here are some of the early statistics from some of the colleges and sixth forms in the region:
>> Students at the Sixth Form College, Solihull, got a head start on A level results day this year, with students logging on to find out their grades online from 6am.
The college recorded 119 A* grades and six pupils will now go on to study at Oxbridge.
>> St Edmund Campion School in Erdington enjoyed a 99 per cent pass rate, with almost 50 per cent of entries graded A-B.
>> At Waverley School in Small Heath, 25 Year 9 students stole a march on older pupils across Birmingham with a 100 per cent rate in AS-level religious studies, Arabic and Urdu.
One Year 11 pupil achieved an A in A-level Urbu, while a further 23 Year 10 students passed AS-level religious studies.
>> Halesowen College recorded a 98.6 per cent pass rate, and 249 students on vocational courses, which are the equivilent to three A-levels, gained triple distinctions.
>> More than 75 per cent of student Wolverhampton Grammar School secured passes a grades A*-B, with almost half at A* or A.
>> Sixth formers at Highclare School in Erdington scored a 100 per cent A-level pass rate, with 20 per cent of passes at grades A*-2 and 54 per cent at A*-B.
Top of the class was Rachel Cavet, who found out she had scored two A* grades, two As and a B while on holiday on France, and will now study medicine at the University of Birmingham.
>> Park Hall Academy in Castle Bromwich saw an improvement in results for the third year running
>> Solihull School’s Head Boy and Head Girl were among 47 students from at the school to achieve at least three A or A* grades.
The independent school recorded a 100 per cent pass rate for the sixth year running, with an impressive 83 per cent of passes graded A*-B and 58 per cent at A*-A.
