South Birmingham Community Health hospitals highly rated for cleanliness

Patients at facilities managed by South Birmingham Community Health are experiencing cleaner clinical environments, according to a new report.

West Heath Hospital, Moseley Hall Hospital and the Sheldon Unit were highly rated by the Patient Environment Action Team (PEAT), which assesses all hospitals and inpatient units with 10 or more beds.

West Heath Hospital scored top marks, rated ‘excellent’ in the key areas of overall environment and cleanliness and patient privacy and dignity. Moseley Hall Hospital and the Sheldon Unit in Northfield were both rated ‘excellent’ for cleanliness and privacy and dignity and ‘good’ for overall environment.

Sandra Farmer, matron of West Heath Hospital, said: “Our patients rightfully expect high standards of care delivered in a clean and comforting environment. This report recognises the hard work that goes on behind the scenes throughout the year, and I would like to thank my colleagues for their efforts.”

The PEAT assessment is published annually by the National Patient Safety Agency (NPSA).
